This all depends on the type of rubbish you are going to put in the skip bin.

General Waste is typically anything involved with a “general cleanup around the house and section” that is neither liquid nor of a hazardous nature.

Use a Cleanfill / Hardfill skip bin, if you have any of the following:
Concrete, clay, rocks, rubble, bricks, asphalt, ceramic tiles.
 
Use a Green Waste skip bin, if you have any of the following:
Grass, leaves, tree trimmings, small branches and other organic materials.

Only use a Soil / Dirt skip bin, if you have 100% pure soil / dirt (no turf or contaminants).
No other waste can be mixed in this bin, additional charges will apply if other waste is placed in this bin.

The website provides a 'skip size page' to assist you with your selection. A 9 cubic metre skip bin is the most common size.

Hazardous waste can not be placed in the skip bin. This includes TV’s, monitors, fridges, paints, solvents, liquids or any asbestos. To dispose of any of these materials you need to contact your local council. They will be able to provide you with a contact who can dispose of anything hazardous or not accepted in your skip bin (i.e. food waste).

It depends on the waste type, the size of the skip bin and your particular requirements.  Just put your details into the website, and it will offer the lowest price to meet your requirements, with no obligations.

Most suppliers allow you to keep a skip bin for between 3 and 5 days. If you want a skip bin for longer, the price that bookabin.co.nz quotes includes keeping the skip bin for the number of days specified.

If unforeseen circumstances mean that you have not finished with the skip bin, you should advise the supplier as early as possible. Provided the skip bin has not been booked out on another job, they can usually be flexible.

All skip bin orders are paid for at the time of ordering on the website. We accept payment by all major credit cards, over our secure server (see security page).  Any additional charges for excess tip fees will be invoiced to you by the supplier directly.

A General Waste bin and Green Waste bin have weight limits of 150kg per cubic metre in size (i.e a 9 cubic metre skip bin can hold up to 1350kg of waste). Suppliers are charged tip fees based on weight. The limit of 150kg per cubic metre for these waste types is the average industry weight limit. If your bin exceeds this weight limit suppliers may charge you additional tipping fees. To give you an example of weight limits, 1 cubic metre of dirt weighs about 1.5 tonnes, exceeding the weight limit of a 9 cubic metre General Waste and Green Waste skip bin.

NOTE. There are no weight restrictions for Clean Fill skip bins.

Skip bins should not be filled any higher than the top of its sides and should be filled in such a manner as to prevent spillage of material from the skip bin either while stationary or in transit.  (Suppliers face prosecution for unsafe or overweight loads).

You cannot put any hazardous waste into the skip bins. To dispose of this you need to contact your local council. Hazardous chemicals include Solvents, Paints, Acids, Laboratory Waste, Oils, Grease traps etc.

Your drive needs to be at least 3 metres wide for a normal truck with a 9 cubic metre skip bin (allow wider access if necessary for a larger truck). You should also ensure there are no low hanging trees, power lines or the like, that may hinder the access and placement of the container at time of delivery. Once ordered you should contact your supplier and discuss the location of the skip bin if you think that access may be difficult. Most suppliers will have smaller trucks for tricky locations.

You will be able to order a skip bin from the site using a credit card. However we do not offer charge accounts.

You can order a skip bin for Sunday delivery using bookabin.co.nz, however the choice of suppliers will be limited. If possible request the skip bin to be delivered on the Friday or Saturday prior.

Most suppliers will be able to deliver a skip bin within 24hrs of ordering, however, we suggest skip bins are booked as far in advance as possible to ensure you are able to get a skip bin that best meets your requirements and price.
